QA Manager at Estendart Ltd attends ANZ BARQA regional forum GXPs seminar
(August 2011)
This is the second regional QA conference promoted by BARQA. It was held in Melbourne and attended by Estendart's QA manager and approximately 40 other QA managers. Topics included validation of computerised systems in clinical trials, competency for GXP auditors and quality risk management applied to GCP and PV. The Global Director at Quintiles then chaired a session entitled " The current and emerging quality culture" and a lively discussion ensued despite the participants being in different GXP environments.
Estendart vet attends annual ANZCCART Conference

This annual Australasian meeting focuses on different aspects of the care of animals used in research and teaching. The veterinarian at Estendart Ltd responsible for animal welfare attended again this year and prepared a report to ensure all staff were informed of views that are current.
Estendart Ltd celebrates 25 years

This month Estendart Ltd celebrates 25 years of continuous service to the animal health industry. The forerunner of the company – the Animal Health Services Center (AHSC), began life in 1986 as a research center on the Massey University campus. It was created to act as a bridge between the university and animal health companies so that more product development could take place on the extensive animal research facilities at Massey. This was so successful that the AHSC was incorporated as Estendart Ltd in order to meet the growing contractual commitments. The company has developed a world-wide network of Sponsors attracted by the expertise offered by Estendart in providing a wide range of animal models and GLP/ GCP compliant study reports.
Estendart Ltd acquires Jennersmead Farm from Massey University

Estendart Ltd has purchased Jennersmead Farm from Massey University. Massey purchased the farm off Glaxo Animal Health Ltd in 1986 as a base for Estendart to conduct its activities. Jennersmead was purpose-built as a research station in the 1960s and it focussed on developing livestock vaccines and anthelmintics. Estendart Ltd has leased the farm off Massey since 1986 but now it becomes the permanent home for the company.
External training course arranged by Estendart Ltd

April saw several of Estendart's staff return to the classroom. The two day course was organised by Estendart's QA unit and recruited NATA's training expert from Sydney. Although Estendart Ltd has been GLP compliant for 14yrs (the first in NZ), training is still high on our agenda. The 18 personnel who attended the course found they each learnt something new.
Highly Successful IANZ Biennial Re-inspection for GLP Compliance
(October 2009)
The inspection found the Estendart Ltd facility to continue to operate in accordance with the OECD Principles of Good Laboratory Practice and as such continued registration was recommended by International Accreditation New Zealand (IANZ). In following the findings of the last two inspections (2005 and 2007) no instances were identified where the Estendart Ltd systems did not comply with the OECD Principles of Good Laboratory Practice, no recommendations for improvements were made by the assessor. Estendart Ltd has now been a registered GLP facility for over thirteen years.
